Nordfeld, Bonnavpgroup

The practice Nattler Architekten, founded in 1949 and based in Essen, can demonstrate comprehensive experience in virtually all branches of architecture and construction planning. As well as architects and engineers, the permanent team, comprising around 40 members, also consists of staff specialising in all tasks that form part of the construction process, such as planners and commercial and administrative experts.

Project

Conference and City Hotel Franz**** Essen, Germany

Michael Rasche

The integrative conference and city hotel Franz**** in Essen is a building that is equally welcoming to people with or without disabilities. This newbuild, which has complete disability access, comprises two separate wings, and houses the hotel operation, a convention centre and large kitchen.

It is situated within the grounds of a charitable organisation. The ensemble of buildings enriches the sparsely developed area where it is situated with an inviting front side facing towards the urban space, and has a high recognition factor.

The slightly set back, raised building with a Trespa® facade in warm wood colours modestly submits to the park-like environment, into which the room-high window fronts open. The 48 rooms of the hotel, along with all public areas, such as the conference and restaurant areas, are all fitted out so that people who are blind, deaf or who use wheelchairs are all able to orientate themselves and move around without help.
