“Sustainability is permanent and beautiful. Simplicity and perfection, discipline and creativity, economy and memorable images: these are no contradictions, but components of good architecture.”

SCHNEIDER+SCHUMACHER

Good architecture is nothing more than the perfect solution to a particular architectural task. But also nothing less. The quest for that one correct design is the unifying factor in all projects of the company schneider+schumacher based in Frankfurt, Vienna and Tianjin. Irrespective of size: This firm of architects, active worldwide, has a portfolio that spans the entire spectrum of planning: product design, residential and specialist construction, cultural institutions, churches, administration and commercial architecture plus complex urban development projects.

Since being founded in 1988, this architectural practice has grown into a business that offers the complete execution of even the largest construction projects, at home and abroad, all from the one source. They have a business unit that deals solely with the development of  innovative, sustainable building technology, which is integrated into their planning work, therefore providing new creative impulse to the designs themselves.

A new research and development centre was constructed at Thalheim in Austria for a technology business company, which is active internationally. The complex of buildings was developed in accordance with the rural nature of the site. Its three storeys do not rise above the small, tranquil town, but instead seek to form a connection to the rural environment and landscape. The modest, clearly contoured buildings, with their transparent facade design with horizontal emphasis, are unmistakably related to the industrial design of the classical modern architecture. The interior also does not belie the fact that the client is an innovative industrial enterprise. The sober, almost cool design corresponds with the incorruptible practicality and rationality of the research work that is carried out here.
